News for 2013 Season Bookings for the 2013 season will open on Monday 13th February. Further information relating to 2013 will be posted shortly. Bookings are now open for blocks during the 2012 year. While it is too early to confirm prices as we need to reach agreement with suppliers for the 2012 season, we can secure your booking until costs can be provided by the end of July this year 2012. Deposit to secure booking, we will require a deposit of $500.00 per block to secure your booking once we have been able confirm your booking and supply you with a fixed cost for your booking. You will get 14 days to pay the deposit. See our terms and conditions for further information this. Office on Stewart Island, we now have an office with a full time staff member on the island. While office looks after a number of activities beside the hunting they will now be able to give you a better service than we have been able to offer in the past. Being on the ground on the island means they are also able to assist you as you transit the island to and from the block along with your transport to and from Bluff. We are sure this is going to be a major improvement on what we have offered to date. Contact details for the office can be found below. We have made some changes for the 2011 that we hope will improve your trip to our blocks. The following is an outline of our improvements for the next season. Shoulder Season discount will be available from next season. Meaning you will get a 10% discount on the standard price for the blocks used during the periods indicated as shoulder season. See our block availability for dates. Coal for all blocks will be organised by us so you no longer have to worry about organising and taking coal to the block for heating. This is one less thing you need to organise. Dinghy for all blocks will now be part of the package. A 12' Aluminium dinghy will now be available for your use at each block. Additional dinghy's and outboards will still be available for hire if you require more than the one dinghy etc. Cooking rings and Gas for all blocks will now be included in your package. You will find cooking facilities at each Hut now and we will give you a full 9Kg gas bottle on your arrival at the block so this is ones less thing you have to organise. A night in Oban at Backpackers will be included in all packages for next year. You are not required to use it but it does not alter the price of the booking. You will be able to travel over on the Ferry on any sailing the day before you are due on your block so that you can have a night in Halfmoon Bay at the Backpackers before you head off to your block early the next morning. The last sailing of the day is the most commonly used. Most Hunting parties used this option in 2010. New Huts will be included for the 2011 season. This will open up to further Blocks "The Kaika" and "Pikaroro". The new Huts will also sleep 8 rather than the 6 in our existing Huts. Bookings for 2011 (Now Open) Bookings enquiries for the for 2011 hunting season starting from the 1st January 2011 are now open. However final pricing is still being confirmed for the 2011 season so final pricing is not available. Administration Person now Looking after bookings (12 Oct 2009) We have just engaged an Administration person to look after our hunting bookings to provide you with a better service. This person is only employed for a couple of hours a day Monday to Friday to complete the bookings so please allow a couple of days to get a response. We appreciate the difficulties you have faced in getting bookings completed and hope this move will dramatically improve and remedy this situation. Bookings are now underway (12 Aug 2009) Bookings are now underway for our hunting blocks and once again our most popular blocks are quickly filling. We are now offering a continuous booking option where blocks can be booked up to 12 months in advance from the current date. This means there will no longer be a single day when bookings open for a specific season you simply book you block at anytime but you can't book any further than 12 months out from the current date. We have had to change things a lot to be able to continue to provide hunting blocks for hunters and we are now committed to continue to develop our options and improve the packages we are able to offer as things settle down for us. We look forward to continued support and feel sure that we will be able to meet your needs in the years ahead. Terms and Conditions (10 Aug 2009) There are a number of changes to the terms and conditions that have been previously associated with our Hunting Blocks, you should check these before you decide to apply for a booking. Call us any time on Telephone (03) 212 8075 Situation for 2010 Bookings (01 Feb 2009) Limited bookings for the 2010 hunting season are now available. We will be offering bookings based on the package covered on this website. If you are looking to book a hunting block with us you should check the package information to ensure it suits your requirements. At this stage the campsite blocks are not available but we hoping to change this situation over the coming months as we try to organise an upgrade to these facilities. Situation for 2009 Bookings (01 Feb 2009) The Rakiura Maori Land Trust has been undertaking a review on its Hunting operations and closed the Hunting Blocks for new bookings on the 30th June 2008. We are in the process of honouring all bookings where a deposit was paid and a booking confirmed prior to the closure. If you did not pay a deposit and receive a confirmation of your booking before 30th June 2008 then you do not have a booking. There are a number of people who had names taken on the off chance bookings were reopened but this does not constitute a booking and thus any tentative dates you provided were not reserved. If you want further information please use the following email to get the necessary information if you are uncertain. sjh@visitrakiura.co.nz Limited Booking Opportunities for 2009 (01 Feb 2009) The Trustees meet on the 14th March 2009 and we have started to develop a package and a process that the Trust is prepared to use to continuing to providing hunting opportunities for the use of Hunting Blocks on Rakiura Maori Land Trust Land going forward. We will start to release details of what we have to offer and when it will be available over the next few weeks. Keep checking this website on a regular basis to find out what developments have taken place. Once we start to implement the new package and booking process things will start to move very quickly. We are currently offering a very limited number of opportunities to take new bookings for the balance of this season only that is up to the end of June 2009. If you wish to consider one of these opportunities you should contact us on the following email sjh@visitrakiura.co.nz Future Bookings (01 Feb 2009) We are looking forward to offering all Hunters opportunities to book and use our hunting blocks in the weeks ahead. (You may travel on any day you choose but the block will be charged on a weekly or part thereof and not a daily basis) · There will be an official change over time of mid day where departing parties have use of the block until mid day and arriving parties from mid day. (their maybe slight variations to this based on transport times) · We will ultimately move to an online booking system that will be quick and easy to use.
