The following is a list of hunting blocks operated by us on Stewart Island. The blocks are offered on a weekly rotation, meaning you book the blocks on a per week basis with a rotation day specific to the block you chose. For example a Saturday rotation means the block is booked from Saturday mid day to the following Saturday mid day. While transfer times on and off the block between parties is based around transport logistics organised for your day of travel, you only have the right to shoot on the blocks with your permit from mid day on your day of arrival, up to mid day on the day of your departure. The above means you book and pay for our blocks by the week but you may travel to and from the blocks on any day of your choice during the period you have booked and paid for the block. You may also choose to purchase multiple weeks to get the length of stay you require. The following is a list of the blocks under our control, the facilities available, the rotation, and whether it is currently open or not.
Block Availability 2012, (as 15 October 2011) The following is the block availability sheet for 2012, it provides a tentative position of Hunting Blocks and their availability to guide you in your choice of blocks. The presentation is updated every few days and will chance as bookings are confirmed, altered or withdrawn. Keep checking here as a block currently booked may become available in coming days.
The following is an example of the Huts that are available on the Hut serviced blocks, they sleep 6 people. The Huts include cooking rings and gas for your week along a with fire to heat the Hut, with coal provided by us. Note: Parties need to supply all their own bedding other than mattresses along with all cooking utensils pots, pans, plates, etc.
New Hut for 2011 In early 2011 we built a new hut which will sleep 10 persons at the, The Kaika. The hut is a different design with much more space than our other huts but with all the same features. This hut has 8 bunks but as you can see you could easily put a couple of extras on the floor. See below,
Campsite Blocks (closed) The Campsite blocks are currently closed until we upgrade these facilities. This will be governed by demand for our existing blocks and this indicates somewhere around the 2014 / 15 seasons. These blocks can not be used for hunting as they are being used by non hunters for a various of reasons. The following are a list of the maps currently available for our blocks.
